At the same time, I want to share certain indicators that people might consider following, especially during the pivotal moments of the cycles.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, don&#8217;t base your investment decisions solely on technical indicators. This is a note on not taking technical indicators for granted, as we might never enter a red zone again or experience a parabolic run such as those in the first couple of cycles.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Pi_Cycle_Top_Indicator\"><\/span>Pi Cycle Top Indicator<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitcoinmagazinepro.com\/charts\/pi-cycle-top-indicator\/\">Pi Cycle Top indicator<\/a> aims to forecast the cycle tops. In the past 3 cycles, it has done it within 3 days of each high (the vertical red dotted lines).<\/p>\n<p>To do that, it relies on two moving averages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The 111 DMA (daily moving average) &#8211; the orange line<\/li>\n<li>The 350 DMA (daily moving average) x 2 &#8211; the green line<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These cycle top forecast is determined by the intersection of these two moving averages, as it can be seen on the chart below.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3666\" style=\"width: 1423px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3666\" class=\"wp-image-3666 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost\/dpetkovski\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/pi-cycle-top.png\" alt=\"bitcoin indicator\" width=\"1413\" height=\"847\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3666\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitcoinmagazinepro.com\/charts\/pi-cycle-top-indicator\/\">Source<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Of course, you should always keep in mind that any model can break.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why I never recommend neither entering nor exiting a market with 100% of your funds. But rather a strategic cost averaging in and out approach, as <a href=\"https:\/\/dpetkovski.com\/tales-from-the-last-cycle-exit-crypto-in-profit\/\">I did in the previous cycles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For example, below are my Bitcoin sell orders from the 2021 cycle and my <a href=\"https:\/\/dpetkovski.com\/how-i-accumulate-bitcoin-during-bear-markets\">buy orders from this cycle<\/a>. See how distributed they are through time, but still complying with &#8220;buy low, sell high&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1349\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost\/dpetkovski\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/btc2.png\" alt=\"btc-buys\" width=\"817\" height=\"702\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Note: I didn&#8217;t use any indicators for this, but basic timing based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/dpetkovski.com\/the-4-year-cycle-bitcoin-price-prediction\/\">4 year cycle thoery<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Still,\u00a0it&#8217;s interesting to see how accurate some models can be throughout an asset&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<p>And some more interesting trivia (quote from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitcoinmagazinepro.com\/charts\/pi-cycle-top-indicator\/\">bitcoinmagazinepro.com<\/a>):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It is also interesting to note that 350 \/ 111 is 3.153, which is very close to Pi = 3.142. In fact, it is the closest we can get to Pi when dividing 350 by another whole number.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Year_MA_Multiplier\"><\/span>2 Year MA Multiplier<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitcoinmagazinepro.com\/charts\/bitcoin-investor-tool\/\">2-Year Moving Average Multiplier<\/a> is an indicator which historically shows when the market is overheated or cold.<\/p>\n<p>This is done by plotting the price chart with the 2Y MA (the green line) and the 5 x 2Y MA (the red line).<\/p>\n<p>Historically, the green zone was great for <a href=\"https:\/\/dpetkovski.com\/how-i-accumulate-bitcoin-during-bear-markets\">Bitcoin accumulation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3667\" style=\"width: 1424px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3667\" class=\"wp-image-3667 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost\/dpetkovski\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/2yma.png\" alt=\"bitcoin indicator\" width=\"1414\" height=\"843\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3667\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitcoinmagazinepro.com\/charts\/bitcoin-investor-tool\/\">Source<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p>I want to point to the fact that the &#8220;overheated&#8221; region in the last cycle wasn&#8217;t as conclusive as in the previous ones (i.e. no red zone in 2021).<\/p>\n<p>So this indicator already becomes obsolete, although the price breaking below the 2 year moving average still seems like a great buying opportunity for maximizing returns, compared to accumulating continuously.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, again, a technical indicator for this is unnecessary because it&#8217;s all encapsulated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/dpetkovski.com\/bitcoin-block-reward-halving-explanation-price-impact\">Bitcoin block reward halving<\/a> cycles.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bonus_Fear_and_Greed_Index\"><\/span>Bonus: Fear and Greed Index<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Unlike the other indicators, the Fear and Greed index can shift within a day. It&#8217;s way more short-term, so it isn&#8217;t suitable for multi-cycle accumulation or sell strategy.<\/p>\n<p>However, it&#8217;s a fun one to track every now and then so I decided to include it.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitcoinmagazinepro.com\/charts\/bitcoin-fear-and-greed-index\/\">Fear and Greed Index<\/a> relies on market sentiment to imply whether Bitcoin is overvalued or undervalued.<\/p>\n<p>This is done by aggregating various types of data: from technical ($BTC&#8217;s volatility, volume, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/BTC.D\/\">dominance<\/a>, etc.) to natural language processing (social media posts&#8217; sentiment, Google search trends, volume, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>At the end, it&#8217;s normalized into a number from 0 to 100, where 0-25 represents\u00a0<strong>extreme fear\u00a0<\/strong>(red points) and 75-100 represents\u00a0<strong>extreme greed\u00a0<\/strong>(green points).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3670\" style=\"width: 1482px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3670\" class=\"wp-image-3670 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost\/dpetkovski\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/fear-greed.png\" alt=\"bitcoin indicator\" width=\"1472\" height=\"867\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3670\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitcoinmagazinepro.com\/charts\/bitcoin-fear-and-greed-index\/\">Source<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p>As you can see, bear markets are usually &#8220;reder&#8221; than bull markets. But at the same time, there are fearful periods during pullbacks in the bull market, so whoever buys those will bag-hold for 4 years before seeing any profit.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why I don&#8217;t recommend trading based on the Fear and Greed Index, but you can keep an eye for short-term expectations.<\/p>\n<p>Or ignore the price, <a href=\"https:\/\/dpetkovski.com\/self-custody-explained-not-your-keys-not-your-coins\">self-custody<\/a>, and HODL forever, supporting the <a href=\"https:\/\/dpetkovski.com\/the-inevitability-of-bitcoin\">largest revolution in human history<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Afterword\"><\/span>Afterword<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I said it in the beginning and I&#8217;ll say it again: consider that these models have zero predictive power.<\/p>\n<p>Not that I completely discredit forecasting models, but whenever one breaks, you can always draw new lines and\u00a0<em>hope\u00a0<\/em>that it&#8217;ll work. This has been done with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitcoinmagazinepro.com\/charts\/bitcoin-rainbow-chart\/\">rainbow chart<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitcoinmagazinepro.com\/charts\/stock-to-flow-model\/\">stock-to-flow model<\/a>, and many more &#8211; and we will see most current models fail as well.<\/p>\n<p>So to end this post, I want you to repeat\u00a0the following sentence 3 times:<\/p>\n<p><em>Technical analysis is astrology for gamblers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Thank you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As most of you already know, I like to accumulate Bitcoin during bear markets, in accordance with the 4 year cycle theory.
