The only difference is that it&#8217;s a\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/dpetkovski.com\/accumulating-vs-distributing-etfs\/\">distributing fund<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(it pays out the dividends to the shareholders).<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"SPYL_vs_SPY5_%E2%80%93_My_choice\"><\/span>SPYL vs SPY5 &#8211; My choice<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>My choice is $SPYL.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And my reasoning is simple:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dpetkovski.com\/accumulating-vs-distributing-etfs\/\">I prefer accumulating to distributing ETFs<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Here are 3 reasons why you should consider this as well:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Dividend distributions are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dpetkovski.com\/investment-taxes-in-all-eu-countries\">taxable events<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Even if you can <a href=\"https:\/\/dpetkovski.com\/receive-tax-free-dividends-in-the-netherlands\/\">receive dividends tax free<\/a>, it still creates an operational burden of reporting them and reinvesting them<\/li>\n<li>Dividends are\u00a0forced selling &#8211; it doesn&#8217;t make sense if you&#8217;re still building your portfolio instead of living off of it<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Remember,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dpetkovski.com\/dividend-investing-is-for-suckers\">dividends don\u2019t materialize<\/a> into investors\u2019 accounts magically.
