$20k From Airdrops in a Week

I recently published a post on Airdrops, explaining how DeFi users can profit massively from them.

I also predicted 2024 to be “the year of airdrops“ and it’s completely deserving of that title so far.

Thus, I want to share my experience from the last 10 days so you can get a better idea how lucrative following new narratives can be.

Here are some of the projects that distributed tokens recently:

Dymension ($DYM)

I’ll start with the most recent one.

I received Dymension’s $DYM airdrop by satisfying various eligibility criteria:

Being an $ATOM delegator
An $OSMO delegator
$TIA delegator from multiple wallets (which I also got via airdrops before)
Multiple wallets with sufficient activity on Ethereum L2s

The best part? The tokens allocated for addresses that were eligible but didn’t claim were distributed to those that did, boosting our $DYM allocation.

Long story short, this was the most recent and also the juciest airdrop of all.

AltLayer ($ALT)

Initially, I received the AltLayer airdrop as an EigenLayer restaker from multiple wallets.

A week later, they opened the claim for Celestia delegators, so I got assigned extra tokens from that as well.

The allocations per qualifying wallet weren’t as massive as $DYM, but altogether I still ended up with a decent amount of $ALT.

Pro tip: don’t underestimate the importance of being active across different ecosystems, with multiple wallets, and keeping up to date with new narratives.

WEN ($WEN)

A small airdrop that I received from two wallets as a user of the Jupiter exchange on the Solana network.

Unlike the previous two, I sold 100% of this airdrop.

I like holding the tokens of projects building something new, with continuous airdrop potential, and exploring new narratives. Memecoin profits are something I’d always rebalance away.

Jupiter Exchange ($JUP)

A bigger airdrop for users of the Jupiter exchange on the Solana network.

If you’ve made a swap on Jupiter DEX before November 2nd, 2023, head to the dApp and you might be up for a pleasant surprise.

While there, it’s a good idea to accumulate some volume and try their other functionalities (limit orders, DCA, bridge, perpetuals), as the first distribution was just 1/4 of the tokens allocated for airdrops.

Mantle Network ($MNT)

Mantle wrapped up their Mantle Journey campaign and distributed $MNT to qualifying wallets.

I got this airdrop from a single wallet, but due to my periodic activity on the network, it added up. And I wasn’t nearly as active as I am on Ethereum L2s – I just explored what’s new on DefiLlama every now and then.

Pro tip: don’t underestimate your ongoing activity in the cryptosphere. See examples of it in my “A Day in a LIfe of a Crypto Investor” posts.

Mayan Gold ($GLD)

I don’t know much about the roadmap of this project, but the token was distributed to liquidity providers with more than $2k in Maya Protocol pools.

I feel that this is quite an “underfarmed” opportunity, so I’ll keep an eye on it as they’ll have another round in March.

Pro tip: explore ecosystems outside the popular chains and you might find hidden gems. Make sure to do proper due diligence.

Sail DAO ($SAIL)

I also don’t know what this project is about, but received the airdrop as an $OSMO delegator.

It was the smallest airdrop from the list, but still deserves a mention.

ZetaChain ($ZETA)

ZetaChain finally went live and distributed $ZETA tokens to users based on their testnet activity until August 2023.

You can extract another pro tip from this: the importance of being active when crypto is “boring”, as many projects are building and taking snapshots during that time.

Actually, 2023 was incredibly profitable for me, although there was no hype about crypto and I even got a few “Bitcoin is dead” IRL.

I remained curious and here we are now!

Manta Pacific ($MANTA)

$MANTA was distributed more than a week ago, but it was quite a significant airdrop so I want to cover it.

They had two distributions: the actual airdrop, which was based on users’ activity in the Manta Pacific ecosystem, and the Manta New Paradigm campaign, which was based on the wallet’s reputation across various Ethereum L2s (details here), subject to locking at least 0.25 $ETH until March.

I was eligible from 3 wallets, but got the most rewards from my main one as I’m venturing in DeFi almost daily with it.

The “New Paradigm” campaign started with an NFT drop and my profits came partially from trading them before the TGE (token generation event) and partially from the $MANTA distribution later on.

Polygon zkEVM Grandmaster NFT

Still not a token distribution, but holding the Grandmaster NFT will definitely be a part of the eligibility criteria for Polygon zkEVM.

The claim page just opened for participants in the Polygon 2.0 zkEVM Saga campaign.

I can’t assign a monetary value to this NFT just yet, but eager to see how it develops!

Closing Thoughts

Although this was quite a profitable week (and month – but it’d be too long of a post if I include everything!), I still missed out on some airdrops that had recent distributions (like DMail).

No complaints though!

Life is good and I’m also up significantly in my existing holdings.

Onto zkSync, Linea, EigenLayer, Scroll, Saga, LayerZero, Berachain, Wormhole, Taiko, Polyhedra, Base…

… That’s a long list…

There literally isn’t a day in which I don’t get, qualify for, or hear about a new airdrop! 🔥
